The Returning the Names takes place every year on October 29. The 2025 events has already concluded.
Our AI-powered program selected random names of victims of the Soviet terror and delivers them straight to your email or Telegram, so participants could join the commemoration wherever they were.
The tool provided name cards in the following way:
Random Selection
Our tool provided the requested number of names, randomly selected from a precompiled set. It can filter names by gender and ethnicity, but not by other criteria. If you need a tailored selection, we recommend working directly with the Open List database.
No Repetitions
Once a name is provided to you by our program, it is removed from the available list and won’t be given to others. This ensures that each name is only provided once and helps acknowledge each individual uniquely.
Possibility of Errors
No system is flawless — including AI. The model may misinterpret language, abbreviations, or place names. We rely on your feedback to improve accuracy. If you spot a mistake, you can report it through the bot or correct it directly by registering on the website and editing the database.

If you are participating in the campaign, the organizers have most likely prepared the cards in advance and provide you with name cards on the spot. But you can also request names yourself. We recommend that participants read two names each.
